WELCOME TO OUR END OF TERM 3 NEWSLETTER.
Spring has certainly arrived, with the weather absolutely gorgeous. What a relief after the cold of winter. This term has been chock full of awesome events and celebrations. Highlights for me have included our athletics days, book week, Year 5 and 6 camps, lots of fun excursions, such as to the zoo and the BunyA Mountains, and who could forget NAIDOC back at the start of term. I'll add to these the recent trip to the Sunshine Coast I took with a group pf Year 5 students and Mrs Ayling for Kids in Action. Talk is already underway about having a similar event next year here in Kingaroy.
As we prepare for our Spring holidays, just a reminder that school is off-limits to everyone. We don't want anyone getting blamed for damage, break-ins or other anti-social activity, so it's best everyone is aware that nobody should be on school grounds when school is not open. One other reminder, which should go without saying, is that vaping and smoking are not permitted on school grounds. Unfortunately, we did have someone vaping on our school grounds at an event recently, hence my reminder.
School holidays are a great way to deeply connect with your little ones while they're still young. As a father of two adult children, and now a grandad, I look back on holidays as some of the most precious of times.
Have a safe and restful break and enjoy time with your children - they grow up so fast!
From the Deputy Principal
This week’s focus of the fortnight has been "The Power of Yet". Students have been discussing how adding the word “yet” makes anything possible. We have discussed how sometimes things might not be easy, but nothing is ever impossible. It has been awesome to watch some of our athletes in the Paralympic games who really epitomise the power of yet.
Excursions – Our students have been involved in a number of excursions over the past fortnight. Year 6 students enjoyed an action packed week at Tallebudgera Beach School and then headed to the Kingaroy TAFE Careers Day. Our Year 4 students had quite the adventure at Australia Zoo and our Year 5 students are currently enjoying their camp at Barambah Environmental Education Centre. Thank you to the staff who put in lots of time and effort organising these opportunities for our students.
GEM Chats – We have been taking time every morning to have a quick GEM chat in the CPA before students go to play. This is an important part of The Resilience Project. This week we have been chatting about what students are looking forward to and it has been lovely to hear about student’s upcoming holiday adventures.
It has been so rewarding to see the outstanding work happening around the school in Term 3. Congratulations to our students on their learning and engagement in classroom and school activities. Thank you to our school staff who always go above and beyond and work collaboratively to ensure our school continues to thrive. Most importantly, thank you to our parents and carers who continue to work with the school to support and develop their child’s learning. We hope you all have a lovely break and look forward to an exciting Term 4.
Class News
This term, Class 4D has been buzzing with activities and exciting learning experiences. Here’s a glimpse of what we’ve been up to!
Our annual Ball Game Carnival was a huge success, with 4D showing great enthusiasm, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The students had a fantastic time competing in various ball games, cheering each other on and celebrating both individual and team successes.
We were thrilled to have Toni and Pat, two local artists visit our school last week. They taught the class about the significance storytelling in Indigenous art and created their own unique bookmarks.
In Japanese, students enjoyed a tasty treat when making their own traditional snacks which included Sushi and Pocky Biscuits. This culminating activity allowed students to use their knowledge on food related vocabulary.
Crikey, let’s not forget our excursion to Australia Zoo, where students had the chance to get up close with some of Australia’s unique wildlife. They were thrilled to pat kangaroos and koalas and even witness Murray the crocodile in action at the Crocoseum! However, the highlight for some lucky students and teachers was getting to chat with Robert Irwin.
It's been a rewarding term of learning, creativity, and physical activity for 4D. We are so proud of all their achievements and look forward to even more exciting adventures next term!
