Year 6 Camp
Our Year 6 students head off to camp next week at Tallebudgera Beach School. Thank you to our camp co-ordinator Mrs Leanne Montgomery and the staff who are heading away for the week. I am sure our Year 6 students are going to enjoy a fun-filled week on the Gold Coast.
Athletics Carnivals
Our school Athletics Carnivals are happening in Week 10. The Junior school Athletics carnival is taking place on Tuesday 22nd June and the Senior school carnival is happening on Wednesday 23rd June. We look forward to welcoming spectators back to this event however please remember to sign in using our QR Code or the sign-in sheet.
Semester 1 Report Cards
A reminder to all our families that we will be trialling new timelines for our report cards. Previously Semester 1 report cards have gone home in Week 10 of Term 2. We are trialling sending them home early in Term 3. This will allow several weeks longer for teachers to teach units of work, which will hopefully result in improved student achievement. This change will align us to Kingaroy State High School, who also send Semester 1 report cards home early in Term 3.
Illness
The mornings are getting colder and we are coming into flu season. Whilst we want students to come to school every day that they can, please keep your child home if they are unwell. This will ensure that illness is not spread to other students or staff. If students present at school with symptoms of illness we are required to contact parents and send them home until they are feeling better.
School Banking
Earlier this year the QLD State Government decided to cease School Banking. The final day of School Banking at Kingaroy State School will be next Wednesday 16th June. I would like to thank all our student and families who have been involved with this program.
P&C Meeting tonight
There is a P&C Meeting tonight at 6pm in the Library. I strongly encourage all parents and carers to come along. The best way to support your child’s school is by joining the P&C.

Class News-12D
Welcome and hello from 1/2D. We have had a busy time working this term. Our English has seen us explore traditional fairy- tales and compare them with the modern versions. Then we have written an opinion piece stating which version we like. Our assessment task is based around the traditional tale of the Princess and the Pea. But did you know that there is a modern version called the Princess and the Packet of Frozen Peas. This has an interesting twist. Check out the story on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7fIC_jwRVgk
Science has seen us looking at the Earth’s Resources. We have looked at water and ways to conserve water. We are also looking at soil and how we can conserve soil. We have been conducting an experiment growing plants in different kinds of soil to see which is best for growing plants. We are checking our plants every day to see which plants will grow the best.
HASS has included a look at local features and places. We examined old pictures of our town and then discovered how and why these places have changed. Do you recognise these places below?
Students also looked at features of a town, and where they are positioned in relation to other features. We looked at where sporting fields, hospitals, schools and shops are in relation to houses and roads.
Our artistic side has been developed through dance. Using the theme – SEASONS – we have practised and performed our dances in groups.
Last week we enjoyed the Under 8’s activities that were on offer. Lots of interesting things were on offer and we enjoyed participating in as many as we could. Some of us made crowns, fairy wands, rockets and iced biscuits. We played with play dough and blew bubbles. We visited the Ambulance, the Fire Engine and the Police Car.
