2024 School Leaders
School Expectations – Correct Play Spaces - Students have been reminded to make sure they are in the correct play spaces this fortnight. We have also had a focus on no hat, no play. Students are aware that this is also the expectation before school.
Priorities 2024 – This year Reading continues to be a priority for our school. As a parent you are one of the influences in helping your child to read. If your child is struggling, try encouraging them by saying, 'Let's read it together' and point to the words as you say them. Boost your child's confidence with constant praise for even the smallest achievement. Try to read with your child on most school days. 'Little and often' is best.
Reminders - Please make sure your child knows how they are getting home each day. School finishes at 3.00pm and buses leave from the bus turnaround shortly after. The school office is very busy and classes are not always contactable by phone, so messages about changes to going home arrangements may not be able to be passed on to classrooms.
Attendance - Please ensure that your child/ren are attending school so we are maximising every learning opportunity and ensure all students succeed. If your child/ren are away please ensure that you contact the school on the absence line 4160 4360 and leave your child’s name, class and brief reason. We are working hard to improve our attendance. Ask your students about their class’s attendance goal, our attendance visits and the rewards students receive for achieving their goal.
Road Safety - Please obey parking rules and speed limits when picking up and dropping off your children. Please don’t park across driveways or in the bus turnaround. Police have said they will be monitoring these areas.
Class News 6C
The school year in 6C has started off with some unique and exciting opportunities. We have had dance sessions, swimming block and we have gone through the exciting process of selecting our new school leaders. A huge congratulations to the successful candidates and well done to those who stepped out of their comfort zone to nominate themselves and present a speech in front of their peers for voting.
We have also been jumping straight in to a brand-new literacy program, PLD, and the enthusiasm and dedication demonstrated by the students has been nothing short of impressive. 6C have embraced the challenges of mastering new skills in reading, writing and spelling with positivity and perseverance.
Our discussions surrounding important life skills through the Resilience Project have been both enlightening and encouraging. Exploring the topics of gratitude, empathy, and mindfulness has allowed our class to understand and practice a positive and collaborative environment. I'm proud to see our students show more resilience and eagerness to take on new challenges.
I am genuinely delighted to work with such an incredible group of students and I am looking forward to more exciting learning experiences and growth this year.
Epilepsy Day
On Friday 16th February we will be wearing a hint of purple to raise awareness for epilepsy. Epilepsy affect 1 in every 150 people in Australia. Please join us in supporting this event.

News from the Arts
Dance Workshop and Classes
We kicked off the term with a bustling schedule in the world of dance. The Dance Workshop, held on Wednesday, February 7th, was a resounding success. Hosted by two dance teachers from Brisbane's Phluxus2 Dance Collective and generously funded by Kingaroy State High School P & C, the workshop provided an exhilarating introduction to Hip Hop and Contemporary dance styles. Participants across all grades enjoyed learning new dances, engaging in games, and culminating the day with stage performances. The level of student participation and enthusiasm greatly impressed the dance instructors.
In regular dance classes and specialist lessons, students from P6C to Year 4 are delving into various dance styles, experimenting with different materials, and recently embarked on crafting their own choreographies in small groups.
Show Team Preparation
With the Proston Show looming on March 8th, the KSS Show Team club has been reignited. Enthusiastic students eagerly began exploring painting and drawing using diverse mediums. For those interested in entering the Proston Show, a comprehensive list of categories is displayed on the Art Window, with copies sent to all teachers.
Due to the overwhelming student interest, both Junior and Senior Show Team Clubs have been established. Senior Show Team sessions will be held on Mondays at 11:15 am during First Break, while Juniors will convene on Thursdays at the same time.
Choir Commencement
Additionally, choir activities have commenced under the guidance of Mrs Ayling, scheduled every Tuesday during First Break.
We eagerly anticipate the participation of your students in our newly established clubs. Parents willing to contribute to creating displays for the show are encouraged to reach out via email.
