Report Cards
Our teachers are currently preparing your child’s Semester 1 report cards, which will be going home in Week 10 of this term. This semester we will be trialling sending report cards out via email. This change aligns us with Kingaroy State High School and many other Primary schools across the state.
Emailing out report cards is better for the environment and also ensures that parents will receive their child’s report cards in a timely manner. If you need to update the email address that the school sends your child’s report card to, please call the office at 4160 4333 or email us at admin@kingaroyss.eq.edu.au . Parents who do not have an email address listed with the school will receive their child’s email in paper form.
Colour Run
This is happening on Friday. All students are participating in this fun event, please make sure they bring an old spare, light coloured t shirt. Students who catch buses home are asked to bring something else to change into as the coloured powder may dirty bus seats.
Year 6 Graduation
The Year 6 Graduation is happening on Monday 4th December. Invoices for the luncheon will be sent home today. This is a special and important day for our graduating class of 2023, and I look forward to sharing this event with many Year 6 parent and carers on the day.
From the Deputy Principal
It is Week 8 and our students are working hard to demonstrate what they have learnt this term. The Focus of the Fortnight is Problem Solving, and we have been busy discussing strategies to respectfully solve problems in the playground. Teachers have been revisiting our three school expectations, Respect for Learning, Respect for Self and Others and Respect for Property and the Environment, to make sure students know what respectful problem-solving looks, sounds and feels like.
WOWs – There are lots of WOWs still available for students to sign up for over the next few weeks. Please discuss these with your children and encourage them to spend their well-earned Kingaroy Cash on a WOW of their choice. WOWs can be purchased by visiting our lovely office ladies and signing up.
PBL Market Place – This is happening on Friday 1st December and offers another opportunity for students to spend their Kingaroy Cash on things to do, things to eat and things to make! This is a highlight of Term 4 and something our students look forward to.
Class News P/6N
What an amazing year we have had. We have enjoyed time with peers in their classrooms and across the school.
In English we are learning about poetry. Some students have been practicing their poems daily. In Maths we are studying data and probability. Students have been asking and answering questions and continuing with their study of number. In Science we are learning about how things change when heated and cooled. The students have enjoyed using the Bee-bots in Digitech and they loved the swimming block.
We have really enjoyed riding the bikes each week and music lessons with Mrs Carige and guitar with Mr Cann. Year 5 Camp was a great experience too. Thank you to all who have helped make it such a great year.

Writing and Illustrating Children’s Books Enrichment Session was enjoyed by All!
On Friday, November 10th, 18 students enjoyed an enrichment session in writing and illustrating children’s books with Mrs Danielle Carige. Students were chosen by their classroom teachers based on their interest and performance in English and Visual Arts. In the session, Mrs Carige briefly discussed her journey into writing and illustrating, the process and parameters of writing and illustrating children’s books before placing the students into 2 teams - the writers and the illustrators. The writers enjoyed time writing narrative stories targeted at children in Prep – Year 3, while the illustrators were given lines from a story Mrs Carige had written called “Welcome Preppies” to interpret and illustrate. Students showcased their work near the end of the session. Many commented how quickly the session went, and were keen to return at break time to finish their writing and illustrating. Mrs Carige is compiling the illustrations into a book for our 2024 preps to receive on their first day at school.
