Class Preferences for 2024
A number of parents have made appointments to meet with myself or our Deputy Principal Bec Hall to discuss preferences for their children for next year. This could be with regards to their potential teacher in 2024, or students they’d like to be with/away from. If you haven’t had the chance to make an appointment you can do so until Friday 3rd November.
School Uniform
It’s been great seeing so many of our students wearing their full school uniform every day. A friendly reminder that our school’s expectation is that students wear our school uniform every day. This includes a wide brimmed hat. Hats are available from the tuckshop, and our teal school polo shirts are available from Coppards, Uniform Zone or Lowes.
Junior School Swimming
This week concludes our school’s junior swimming block. The school fully subsidises this activity, so there is no cost to our families. This block culminates on our Junior Swimming Day which is happening on Friday.
The Resilience Project
From the start of 2024 our school is investing in a whole-school Wellbeing Program, the Resilience Project. This will support the emotional and mental wellness of our students and whole-school community. More information about this will feature in next fortnight’s newsletter, but I believe this is an exciting opportunity to support all our students.
Class News 6W
6W are rapidly approaching the final days of their primary school journey, and we have been making the most of our remaining time together. Last Friday, we enjoyed our last summer carnival, creating unforgettable memories showcasing our great sportsmanship and teamwork. In our English class, we’ve been exploring the captivating world of the brilliant author Jackie French. Our math lessons have been equally engaging, with a focus on refining our number skills, including division with decimal remainders and 2-digit by 2-digit multiplication, as we prepare for next week's dive into all things data-related. Meanwhile, in science, we're exploring reversible and irreversible changes, and strongly debating whether an object can be returned to its original state.
As we embrace the countdown to high school, we're both excited and a bit anxious about the adventures ahead. As of today, Wednesday, 25th October, there are just 32 school days left in our primary school adventure. It's a bittersweet realization that our time here is drawing to a close, but it's also a reminder that new opportunities await in the world of high school. Here's to the final stretch of our primary school journey, where we continue to learn, grow, and cherish the moments we share.

The Aussie Bird Count
In week 3, Kingaroy State School took part in The Aussie Bird Count which is Australia's biggest citizen science event of the year.
Mayple joined the count each day and said the following:
‘We did a bird count. We saw lots of birds. We saw 197 birds which is nearly 200. We saw 14 different types. We saw lots of rainbow lorikeets. We saw 2 nests. One was a currawong and one was a myna bird. The best part was when we saw the nest. At home, I have lots of gardens. I have 2 house sparrow nests. Next year, I will do the bird count again.’
Mayple interviewed the preps who joined the count.
What bird did you see?
Annabelle: rainbow lorikeet
Azalee: sparrow
