School Holidays
On behalf of the Kingaroy State School staff, I would like to wish all our families a safe and enjoyable school holidays. This is the last week of Term 3, and school starts again on Tuesday 2nd October. This term has been extremely busy, with many key events happening including Years 5 & 6 camps, Under 8’s Day, Book Week, Parent/Teacher interviews, the annual Ball Games Carnival, Year 3’s excursion to the Bunya Mountains and Year 4’s excursion to Australia Zoo. I’d like to thank all our parents and families for your continued support of our school.
Prep 2024
Is your child starting Prep next year? If so, we are currently conducting Prep enrolment interviews, and will continue to do so into Term 4. Please contact the school at 4160 4333 or admin@kingaroyss.eq.edu.au to book an enrolment interview.
Attendance
It is important for your child’s achievement and overall success that you send them to school everyday, unless they are unwell. Next term we a have a new attendance promotion. Each class will have a daily attendance goal, and if they achieve this goal they will receive a reward ‘peanut’. These can accrue for class prizes. Also, each Friday any child who attends school for every day that week will earn $5 Kingaroy Cash. Please support your child’s education by sending them to school every day.
School Uniform
Thank you to all our students who proudly wear full school uniform everyday. Our community is proud of our school uniform and I request that parents send their students to school in teal KSS polo shirts, and navy blue bottoms. KSS polo shirts can be purchased at Coppards, Lowes and Uniform Zone. Navy blue bottoms can be purchased at these shops, as well as Big W and Best and Less. I ask that you don’t send your child to school in brightly coloured non-school uniform tops.
From the Deputy Principal
Our PBL focus for Weeks 9 and 10 has been Teamwork. Students have been learning that by working as a team we can achieve things we cannot do alone, complete tasks more quickly, negotiate and compromise with others and support those who are finding it difficult. Students have been focusing on the meaning of teamwork, what it looks like in the classroom and playground, and understanding that Together Everyone Achieves More.
Prep Father’s Day Afternoon – It was fantastic to see so many families celebrating at the Father’s Day afternoon. Our Prep students enjoyed spoiling their special guests and spending time completeing all the exciting activities. Thank you to our amazing Prep team for all the planning and organisation they put in to make this event such a success.

Beach 2 Bush Program – We were very fortunate to have Surf Life Saving QLD visit our students to present an engaging and interactive session on beach and water safety. It was a great opportunity for our bush students to experience some water safety education while having lots of fun.

Excursions – Our students have been involved in a number of excursions over the past fortnight. Year 3 students enjoyed a trip to the Bunya Mountians, Year 5 students headed to the Kingaroy TAFE Careers Day and our Year 4 students had quite the adventure at Australia Zoo. In addition to these excursions, P-6N enjoyed a music incursion with Mr Larry performing a concert for students. Thank you to the staff who put in lots of time and effort organising these opportunities for our students.

Class News - 2A
Students in 2A have had an exciting and fun filled Term 3! In English, we received a letter from Paddington Bear and worked hard to reply with our well planned and written postcards. In HASS, we studied the continents of the world and how to care for special places. Students shared their special place with Paddington and wrote a set of directions for him to follow if he was to visit Kingaroy State School. Just like Paddington, we made some marmalade sandwiches - an acquired taste for some! In Maths we revised number patterns, fractions, length, area and capacity. Every week has had an exciting event - we celebrated 100 Days of school, under 8's day, book week, crazy hair day and ball games. We hope everyone has a safe and happy school holidays.

News from the Arts
Term 3
This term, we have been studying Drama from Prep to Year 6. The students have enjoyed learning drama games as well as performing and creating plays given or created by themselves. Drama teaches us how to work with others, solve problems, speak clearly and present to a live audience.
Ekka
This year, we had a number of students compete at the Ekka in the Photography and Visual Arts sections. They were: Skylah, Mackenzie D, Brady, Sasha, Makenzie P and Mackenzie T. The Photography entries should arrive later this week.
However, we were able to recognise our Visual Arts winner, Makenzie who was awarded a Commended.
Well Done, Makenzie!
Wondai Show – last show for the year!
The KSS Show Team, recently, competed in the Wondai Show with some excellent results.

Thank you to all the students who have come every Wednesday 1st break and/or brought in their amazing creations for our local show competitions. In Term 4, our students will be working on a variety of art competitions and creating items to sell at our annual PBL End of the Year markets in November.
George the Farmer Competition
Early this term, I entered our school in the George the Farmer/Rabobank Competition to receive a free set of the George the Farmer book series. We were successful and received our books yesterday. This paddock to plate series is a great accompaniment to their TV series of the same name.
