Phone systems
On Tuesday 11th May there was a severe overnight thunder storm in Kingaroy that caused significant damage to our school’s phone systems. The Department of Education has been working hard to repair this damage. I thank parents for their patience with our phone system, it has been replaced earlier this week and any issues contacting the school’s office should now be resolved. A reminder that there are a number of ways parents & carers can contact the school which are listed below;

Winter Sports Carnival
Our annual Winter Sports Carnival is happening this Friday for students in years 4-6. Thank you to the teachers who will help run this event, and who have been training students during Friday afternoon sports. I am sure that all participating students will enjoy themselves and represent our school proudly and respectfully.
Under 8’s Day
Students in Year 1 & 2 are invited to attend our annual Under 8’s Day on Tuesday 1st June. This a fun event where we celebrate the youngest members of the Kingaroy State School community. Parents & carers are welcome to attend as well, but please check-in via the QR Code or by signing in.
State of Origin Free Dress Day & Fundraiser
We are holding a State of Origin Free Dress Day on Wednesday 9th June to help support our students who will be representing Wide Bay Region at State Championships this semester. Students can wear their team’s state of origin colours, or any other footy colours. We will be collecting donations on behalf of the P&C to go towards costs associated with playing at upcoming State Carnivals.
Before School Supervision
A friendly reminder that there is no formal supervision of students at our school prior to 8.30am. If your child does arrive at school prior to this time they are asked to sit quietly in the Covered Play Area (CPA) until they are dismissed at 8.30am. After this time staff are rostered to supervise students around the school including on the Junior and Senior Forts and most days on the oval. Breakfast Club is also open on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
Thank you to our P&C
Our school’s P&C committee has recently donated a giant LCD screen to our school for the Hall. This brilliant piece of technology will allow us to use the Hall much more effectively for a range of different purposes. On behalf of the students and staff of Kingaroy SS, I would like to thank the P&C for this generous donation.

Class News-3SE
Welcome to 3SE!
We have had a wonderful start to term 2.
In English we are learning to write and comprehend persuasive arguments.
In Maths we are continuing our focus on place value and working with numbers up to 1000. We have also been learning to identify, count and work with money. The remainder of the term students will be learning to tell time to the nearest minute, working with both digital and analogue clocks.
In Science students have been investigating the Earth, sun and shadows. They have been learning about the Earth’s rotation, how it causes day and night and its effect on shadows.
In Health, students have looked at a range of emotions and factors that influence and strengthen self-identity. We have discussed what the word empathy means and explored the impact of respectful behaviours in friendships.
As part of our Visual Arts unit, students have enjoyed learning about fossils and had fun making their own fossils, out of playdough and found objects (shown below).

From PE Teacher - NRL Visit
On Thursday 13th May representatives from the League Stars Inspire program, including former NRL stars Gavin Cooper and Allan Tongue, came and taught the Year 6 students about respect. The discussed how to show respect as part of a team and toward their school peers and the benefits to themselves and others when respect is both shown and received. The session was helpful in engaging students both mentally and physically with all students, school staff and NRL visitors involved in playing some simple ball games that emphasised teamwork, resilience and giving things a red hot crack. Skills that are useful for students in their everyday lives.
School Banking
Just a quick note to all parents and carers. Our last School Banking Day ever will be on Wednesday 30 June. No further school banking will happen after this date.
Volunteers Needed
Our P and C are looking for volunteers to assist with our canteen on the second day of our Athletics Carnival Wednesday 23 June. Please see Chrys in the Tuckshop if you can help out, even for just an hour as many hands make light work.
Senior Shirts
The shirts have arrived and have been distributed to the students. This year's design is one of the best yet and certainly the shirts make our Year 6 students stand out in a crowd
Congratulations
Congratulations to Jaxon, James and Patterson for making the U11 School Boys Wide Bay Team. Next stop State Championships.
New School Mural
Our new School Mural is starting to take shape. The mural will display some of the key behaviour messages that we have been teaching the students over 2021. It will be great to see the finished product, big thanks to our artist in residence Kerry and our student helpers. Great job. Stay tuned for updates.
