Issue 14 30 August 2023
From the Principal's Desk
Welcome to Week 8,
It has been a very busy Term so far, and students are now working hard to complete their Term 3 assessment tasks. Thank you to all the parents who took the opportunity to meet with their child’s teacher during our recent parent-teacher interviews. These are a great opportunity to form closer relationships between home and the school, and forge greater lines of communication with your child’s teacher.
School Uniform:
It has been great to see so many students wearing Kingaroy State School jumpers in the morning when it is cooler. I strongly discourage students wearing brightly coloured or branded jerseys or jackets, these are best kept for weekends or after school. Our uniforms can be purchased at Coppards, Uniform Zone and Lowes, and Navy-blue jumpers and jackets can be purchased from other retail outlets such as big W and Best and Less. Our school community is proud of our school and our school uniform and so your support in sending your child to school in full school uniform every day is appreciated.
School Facebook Page
Our school communicates to parents in a number of ways, including letters home, emails, texts and through social media. One of the most effective and timely ways we communicate news and events to parents is through the school’s Facebook Page. If you have a Facebook account, I highly recommend that you ‘like’ our page so you can be kept up-to-date with all the latest information regarding our school.
Prep 2024
Do you have a child starting Prep in 2024? We are currently undertaking prep enrolments for next year. Please call the office or drop in to make a Prep enrolment appointment.
From the Deputy Principal
It is Week 8 and our students are working hard to demonstrate what they have learnt this term. The Focus of the Fortnight remains “On time, Every time”. We have continued incentivising being on time for class after breaks by rewarding students with $5 Kingaroy Cash.
Book Week – This happened last week and what a week it was. Things kicked off Monday night with our PJ Night and the launch of our Book Fair. It was wonderful to see so many families attend and share in our awesome Book Week stories. The celebrations finished with our annual Book Parade which the students always look forward to. A huge thank you to Mrs Carige and her amazing Book Week team for making these events such a success.
Year 5 Pre-Camp Visit – This happened on Monday with our students enjoying a visit from Barambah Environmental Education Centre. The camp staff introduced students to the equipment they will use while on camp and began preparations for the Barambah Challenge. Thank you to Mrs Clarissa Reilly for organising this great opportunity for our students.
WOWs – There are still some spaces available in WOWs. Please discuss the remaining WOWs with your children and encourage them to spend their well-earned Kingaroy Cash on a WOW of their choice. WOWs can be purchased by visiting our lovely office ladies and signing up.
Class News 1/2D
Students in 1/2D have been extremely busy this term. In English, we have enjoyed reading the narrative, “George’s Marvellous Medicine” by Roald Dahl and students are now writing their own fictitious recipes for Grandma! In maths, we have been learning how to measure length and capacity using informal units. Students in Year 2, have also been learning to measure area. In Science, we have been describing observable features of a variety of landscapes and the sky, and discussing how these can change over time. Throughout the term, we have also been able to participate in Under 8s Day and Book Week, as well as engage with visits from Fudooka High School and the Fire Brigade.
