Report Cards
Semester 1 report cards will be coming today. These are the culmination of the previous two terms of classroom work that your child has completed. I would like to congratulate all our students who have worked hard to achieve their academic goals. If you have any queries or concerns about your child’s progress, please make an appointment to meet with their classroom teacher. Almost always, any issues can be worked through so your child can achieve their best possible academic outcomes.
School Uniform
It’s been great to see so many of our students wearing full school uniform for the start of the new term, including dark blue jumpers and jackets in the morning when it is cooler.
A friendly reminder that it is the school’s policy that students wear school uniform every day. This is our teal Kingaroy State School polo shirt and dark blue bottoms (shorts/skirts or long pants). As mornings are cold at the moment, our school zip jackets and jumpers (with logos) are available to purchase at Coppards, The Uniform Zone and Lowes.
Other dark blue jackets and jumpers are also permitted to be worn. I strongly discourage parents from sending their students to school in brightly coloured or branded jumpers or jackets. These are best left for after school/the weekends or free dress days. Please make sure all jackets and jumpers are labelled with your child’s name for ease of returning in case they are lost.
Your support in sending your children to school in full school uniform is greatly appreciated. Please contact me if you require any support with providing uniforms for your children.
Emma Evans Maternity leave
This is Emma Evans’s final week before she embarks on a period of Maternity Leave. I would like to wish Emma all the very best with the upcoming birth of her first child. Emma will be replaced by Diana Truong in 1E. Diana is an experienced teacher who has previously taught in Melbourne and the Sunshine Coast, and I look forward to her joining the KSS team for the remainder of the year.
District Athletics Carnival
Today, approximately 30 students from our school competed at the South Burnett District Athletics Carnival. I would like to wish them every success for their events and thank them for representing our school.
P&C Meeting
The next P&C Meeting is scheduled for tonight, at 6pm in the library. I strongly encourage all parents and carers to attend.
From the Deputy Principal
Welcome back to what is set to be an exciting and action-packed Term 3. We have been off to a flying start with the Year 6 students heading to Tallebudgera for camp, South Burnett Athletics happening today and PJ Day hitting Kingaroy State School on Friday.
Positive Behaviour for Learning - Our PBL focus this fortnight has been on rebooting our Leap into Learning systems and routines. Teachers have introduced students to our new SILO reset process which helps students remain in the green zone. Please take the time to ask your students about the SILO steps and about the diverse ways their teachers are greeting them at the threshold of their classroom. Threshold is a technique used by our teachers every day to ensure they are connecting and building strong relationships with all our students.

Tallebudgera Beach School Camp - I was fortunate enough to attend Year 6 camp last week where an amazing time was had by all. Our students had the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities that many students had never experienced before. It was fantastic to watch our students choose different paths as they embarked on their "Hero's Journey" and reflected on their strengths and areas for growth to allow them to identity which hero they were. I am very grateful to have been part of this journey with our Year 6 students and teachers. A massive thank you to Miss Coutts, Miss Wilson and Mrs Montgomery, without you camp would not have been possible.

WOWs - WOWs are happening again this term and will kick off in Week 3. Please encourage your students to spend their well-earned Kingaroy Cash on WOWs they will enjoy. We have aimed to include a variety of WOWs so hopefully there is something for everyone. Sign up for WOWs happens in the front office where students pay their cash, and their names are added to the WOW list. Please find a calendar outlining the WOWs for Week 3 and 4 below.

Message from our Guidance Officer

3/4BD News
What a busy start to the term the students in 3/4BD have had! We have started researching our beautiful country, Australia. We have started completing mapping activities in HASS. In mathematics, we have been practising our measuring skills and learning about fractions and decimals. And it’s only week 2!

Red Cross Pillowcase Project
Children in Years 3/4 participated in the Pillowcase Project. This is an initiative from the Red Cross which helps children get prepared in the event of an emergency. Val and Bev from the Red Cross came along and helped us decide what we would pack in a pillowcase in the event of an emergency. Students had the opportunity to draw items onto a pillowcase that would become their ‘emergency supply’ bag. This program was funded by the South Burnett Regional Council.

What’s Coming Up…
Term 3 is shaping up to be a busy term for 3/4BD, in the coming weeks we have the following to look forward to: school photos, Ball Games Carnival, book week (including dress up day) and a day trip to Australia Zoo.
News from the Arts
NAIDOC Week Parade
Our Junior and Senior Choirs performed at NAIDOC Parade in Week 10 of Term 2. Both choirs sang beautifully on the day, and they looked amazing dressed in their choir uniforms. A special thank you must go to Mr Lee Kernaghan for organising the backing track for his song ‘Come Together’. As well, we would like to thank Mr Larry Cann for contacting Lee on the schools’ behalf. In addition, we would like to thank Eleanor Chapman, from Cheeky Tunes, for sending the chords and lyrics for ‘Ngaya Naba’ sung by the Junior Choir. Our next choir performance will be for our visitors from Fudooka High School, Japan in Week 4.
Fudooka High School Visit
Fudooka High School visit is fast approaching. On Thursday, August 3rd, all classes will have a 30-minute lesson with our visitors. These lessons will be on some aspect of Japanese culture e.g., games, origami, calligraphy. Fudooka High School will be officially farewelled at a whole school parade beginning at 1pm on the day. Our choirs will be performing at this parade. Parents are most welcome to attend.
Ekka – Royal Queensland Show, Brisbane
The Ekka is fast approaching. Our KSS Show Team have been working hard to complete entries for Photography, Art, Show Bag Design and Scarecrow competitions. Over the holidays, all the photography entries were sent. Our artists are down to their final days, to have their works framed and wired. Our Show Bag Designs and our official KSS Scarecrow have only a few weeks left to be entered and ready to send or hand delivered. Our next show on the calendar is Wondai which is happening later in early September. Wondai Show will be our final show for the year.
KSS Dance Crew
Our KSS Dance Crew have been working super hard on their routine over last term. It is hoped we will be able to showcase our routine to our school and wider community later this term. So, watch this space…
