From the Principal's Desk
End of Term:
This will be the final newsletter for Semester 1. I’d like to thank all our students for their hard work and congratulate them on their academic, sporting and artistic successes this semester. I’d also like thank all our parents for your continued support. A warm farewell to any families who may be leaving town before next term starts, we trust your child has enjoyed their time at our school and I look forward to welcoming a number of new families to Kingaroy SS for the start of next semester.
School Uniform:
Kingaroy State School is a great school, and our students, families and staff are deservedly proud of our school and the achievements and successes of all our students. Part of showing this pride is ensuring that all our students are proudly wearing their school uniforms. Our school’s policy is that all students wear the school uniform every day. Our school uniform is the teal Kingaroy State School polo shirt and navy blue bottoms (shorts/trackies/pants/skirts etc). Our teal shirts are available at Coppards, Lowes and Uniform Zone. Navy blue bottoms are also available from these shops, as well as other shops around town that sell clothes such as Big W and Best & Less.
In the cooler months, I fully understand that students will need to wear additional layers of clothing. Navy blue official Kingaroy State School jumpers are available from Coppards, Lowes and Uniform Zone and are reasonably priced. Students can wear warmer jackets as well, but I would encourage parents to stay within the Navy blue/dark blue colour scheme. Whilst we want students to be comfortable and warm during winter, I would discourage parents from sending their children to school wearing brightly coloured, or heavily branded tops/jackets. These sorts of clothes are best kept for after school hours, weekends or free dress days.
Our wider school community strongly supports the wearing of a school uniform and in semester 2 we will be supporting and encouraging families to send their children to school in full school uniform, including navy blue winter tops. With the support of the P&C our school will also be exploring ways to support families to acquire 2nd hand uniforms to help ensure students can wear uniforms when money may be a factor.
School Calendar:
I will email all parents a Term 3 school calendar by week 1 of next term. This will ensure that all parents are fully up-to-date with all the key Term 3 dates and events.
From the Deputy Principal
We only have two more days of school left this semester with lots of events still to come! Our PBL focus this fortnight has been Calm Classrooms and Positive Play. Students have been enjoying positive play breaks by staying calm, solving problems appropriately, using the high five and respecting others’ personal space.
The Red Cross worked with our Year 3 and 4 students on 'The Red Pillowcase' initiative. This program helps children prepare for, cope with and respond to an emergency. The children enjoyed their time with our special visitors and learned lots of interesting things.

Sport News
Earlier this term students in the South Burnett U11 Netball team competed at the Wide Bay U11 Netball trials held in Kingaroy. Congratulations to Nellie Grahame who was selected in the Wide Bay team and who will travel to Roma in August to compete in the State trials. Well done Nellie and good luck!
Athletics News
Last week we held our annual athletics carnival. It was fantastic to see students from Prep-Year 6 competing in the full range of track and field events over the week. Thank you to all the parents, families, caregivers and friends who came along to support the students.
This year, 2 school records were broken. Well done to both of these students, this is a huge accomplishment.
