From the Principal's Desk
Deputy Principal
I am pleased to announce that after the completion of a state-wide merit recruitment process, our new permanent Deputy Principal is Rebecca Hall. Bec Hall has been Acting in this position for almost 12 months and takes over from our previous long-term Deputy Principal Jason Wyeth. I would like to congratulate Bec Hall on this promotion and wish her all the best in this role into the future.
Athletics Carnival
Our school’s Athletics carnival is happening next week. This year we are trialling running events over three days, to support student and staff wellbeing. A warm thank you to Candice Humphreys for co-ordinating this year’s program.
Gifted & Talented
As many of you will know, part of her Mrs Dannielle Carige’s role this year is to co-ordinate our Gifted and Talented program. This isn’t only for students who excel academically, but also students who are high performing in other areas such as sports, Music, Dance etc. If you’d like more information about how we may support your child to develop and enhance particular skills, please contact the office and arrange a time to talk with Mrs Carige.
Report Cards
Our teachers are currently completing assessment tasks and compiling your child’s Semester 1 Report Card. As in previous years, these will be sent home early in Term 3. This allows us to maximise teaching and learning time for our Semester 1 units of work.
P&C Meeting
Our next P&C meeting is Wednesday 14th June at 6pm in the library. All parents and carers are welcome to attend.
From the Deputy Principal
It is Week 8 and our students are working hard to demonstrate what they have learnt this term. The Focus of the Fortnight is Respect, both in the classroom and the playground. Teachers have been revisiting our three school expectations, Respect for Learning, Respect for Self and Others and Respect for Property and the Environment, to make sure students know what respect looks, sounds and feels like. Students have been doing an exceptional job of being respectful to adults and peers.
WOWs – There are lots of WOWs available for students to sign up for over the next few weeks. Please discuss these with your children and encourage them to spend their well-earned Kingaroy Cash on a WOW of their choice. WOWs can be purchased by visiting our lovely office ladies and signing up.
Reflection Room - If your child receives Reflection Room for not upholding one of the Kingaroy State School Values, you will be notified via text message. The aim of Reflection Room is to provide a space for students to reflect on where things went wrong and to develop strategies to better cope should the situation arise in the future. If you have any questions or require further information, please don't hesitate to contact me.
PE News
Our athletics carnival will be held next week on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Please find information about event times below.
Our school will be following it’s regular schedule around lunch breaks and playtime. Spectators are invited to only attend the events during session times and not during the allocated lunch and playtimes.
Students are welcome to wear their house colours on days they are competing. The tuckshop will be running on Thursday only.

Focus on Attendance
The Queensland Department of Education (2023) maintains that “ Each parent of a child who is of compulsory school age has the legal obligation to ensure their child is enrolled and attends a school, on every school day for the educational program in which the child is enrolled, unless the parent has a reasonable excuse.”
Even missing a small part of a day can add up to a significant amount of missed education, over a student’s 13 Years of schooling.
At Kingaroy State School, we acknowledge the importance of daily attendance by awarding a trophy to the class which had the most improved and the highest weekly attendance rate for the previous week. Classes also receive 2 ‘Peanuts’ for their class peanut bush.
Congratulations to last week’s winners -
