Issue 8 24 May 2023
From the Principal's Desk
Winter Sports Carnival: This is happening on Friday this week. Good luck to all our competing students. I’d like to thank all the staff who are helping to make this day possible by taking teams to the various venues.
P&C Meeting: There is a P&C Meeting tonight at 5.30pm in the library. All parents and carers are welcome to attend.
Flu season: We are seeing a number of students and staff become ill with the flu. Whilst attendance is a huge priority at Kingaroy State School this year, please keep your children home if they are exhibiting flu symptoms. If they are staying home, please let our office know so that their absence can be recorded as an illness.
School Facebook Page: Do you follow our school on Facebook? We use our Facebook page to regularly communicate with parents and carers, and send out reminders about upcoming events. If you haven’t already done so I would highly recommend you follow and ‘like’ our school Facebook page, via the link below;

Our school’s P&C also has a new page which they use to communicate with parents, and I would also recommend you follow them as well, via the link below;
From the Deputy Principal
It is hard to believe it is Week 6! There has been so much happening around the school. Our PBL focus this fortnight has been “On Time, Every Time”. We have introduced some new bells and students now have a one-minute warning sound to ensure they make it to their classrooms on time for learning.
There are lots of WOWs available for students to sign up for this term. Please discuss these with your students and encourage them to take their well-earned Kingaroy Cash to the office and purchase a WOW. The Prep students enjoyed their Picnic and Play WOW Monday afternoon, particularly their frozen jewels (frozen red grapes) which they said tasted delicious.
Health Incursion – The Root Cause Mad Food Science Health Incursion started today with our P/6N class enjoying lots of engaging food adventures with Miss Victoria. Thank you to the P&C who arranged funding for this fantastic event for our students. The Free Parent Seminar will be happening this afternoon at 3.15pm. Look forward to seeing you there.
Nature Play – Over the weekend our amazing P&C installed some more seating in our nature play area. The students are loving this new edition! Thank you again to the P&C for all the work they have put into bringing this area to life.
PE News
Last term South Burnett trials were held for the U11s Netball team. Well done to Nellie, Ayla and Violet who were selected in the team. They will attend the Wide Bay trials in Kingaroy next month.
On Tuesday 9th May a number of our students participated in the South Burnett Cross Country. All of our students ran well and we were fortunate to have Seth, Jamychal, Deegan and Susie be selected to the South Burnett team. They will compete at the Wide Bay trials next month in Hervey Bay.
Finally, a huge congratulations to Ezra (AFL) and Jamychal (U11 League) who have attended Wide Bay trials and been selected to represent the Wide Bay team at upcoming State trials. This is a great achievement and our school is very proud of their accomplishments. Good luck boys!

Athletics Update
This year we will be trialling a new format to our school athletics carnival. Please see below the outline for events. Our school will be following it’s regular schedule around lunch breaks and playtime. Spectators are invited to only attend the events during session times and not during the allocated lunch and playtimes.
Students are welcome to wear their house colours on days they are competing.
