Issue 12 3 August 2022
From the Principals Desk
Welcome to Week 4,
School Opinion Survey: Thank you to all of those who have already completed the Parent/Caregiver Survey. Currently approximately 17% of our families have completed the survey. If you have not had a chance to complete the survey yet, please note that the online surveys will remain open until Friday, 12 August 2022. This is your opportunity to provide feedback about what our school does well and how we can improve.
To have your say, check your email for an invitation from the Department of Education titled School Opinion Survey for parents and caregivers, 2022.
Can’t find your invitation? If your family has more than one parent/caregiver, check that they haven’t received the invitation and/or check your junk email folder.
Year 6 Camp: Our Year 6 students are currently at camp at Tallebudgera on the Gold Coast. A sincere thank you to the staff who have given up their personal time to make this possible, Leanne Montgomery, Rebecca Wilson, Candice Humphreys, Stephanie Turner and Sarah Brookes. Our campers are away for four nights and are due back on Friday at approximately 4.30pm at the bus turnaround on Markwell St.
Monday – Pupil Free Day: Next Monday 8th August is a local pupil free day, allocated as the South Burnett’s Show Holiday. Students are welcome back to school next week on Tuesday.
P&C Meeting – Week 6: The next P&C meeting is happening in Week 6. They will be reverting back to the usual meeting time of 6pm in the Library. All parents and carers are encouraged to attend.
Book Week – Week 7: A friendly reminder that Book Week is coming up in Week 7. Our Fancy Dress Day and Parade is always very popular and is happening on Thursday August 25th. Many of our students enjoy coming to school on this day in free-dress, dressed up as their favourite book character.
District Athletics Carinal: The South Burnett District Athletics Carnival happened last week, with many of our students participating in events. A number of our students performed very well, and were selected to represent South Burnett District at the upcoming Wide Bay Region Athletics Carnival. Congratulations also to the following students who were named as Age Champions at the District Carnival, which is an excellent achievement;
Nellie Grahame - 10 Years Girls Age Champion
Patterson Braithwaite – 12 Years Boys Age Champion
Message from the Guidance Officer
On Friday 22nd July we celebrated National Pyjama Day and the weather that day was perfect for keeping warm in our dressing gowns and slippers!
National Pyjama Day raises much-needed awareness and funds for children living in foster care. The money raised from this event helps to fund educational resources and provide positive experiences for vulnerable children.
Thank you to all of our families who participated, our school raised $290.00 toward this worthwhile cause.
Class News from 5C
We have had a very busy term in 5C. This term in English we are examining media texts and creating a multimodal feature article. In Mathematics we have been learning about patterns and the four operations, next we will be learning about all things measurement. In Science we are learning about the adaptions animals have to survive in different environments. In HASS we are enjoying learning about different places around the world. We are looking forward to Book Week in Week 7. We have been busy doing some guided drawings on different birds for this year’s theme of ‘Dreaming with eyes open’. We hope you enjoy looking at our drawings above and below. Seth attended South Burnett Athletics on Friday and he made a qualifying jump of 1.14m in high jump and a qualifying distance in shot put of 7.16m. Congratulations Seth! We are looking forward to having some of the staff from Barambah Environmental Education Centre come to school to work with all of the students in Grade 5 and do some navigation skills development on Monday August 29th in preparation for camp. A friendly reminder, deposit and permission are due back Friday 12th August with medical notes to follow.

Reader's Cup
Reader’s Cup
Meet the Kingaroy State School Reader’s Cup Team. A group of four dedicated students who spent most of Term 3 with their head in a book, preparing themselves for the Regional Reader’s Cup Competition held at Taabinga State School in the last week of Term 3. Their task was to read five novels in ten weeks, remember facts from the stories and then compete against other South Burnett Schools to answer fifty questions. The team had a lot of fun and were great ambassadors for our school. Thankyou to Ms Kathy for accompanying the team and Taabinga State School for organising the competition.
