Issue 4 16 March 2022
From the Principal's Desk
Welcome to Week 8
Diamond Behaviour Parade: Behaviour Parades are where students who have demonstrated excellent behaviour throughout Term 1 are celebrated by staff and students, and presented certificates. Our Term 1 Diamond Behaviour Parades are happening on Tuesday 29th April in the Hall, the senior school parade (Years 3-6) starts at 9.10am and the junior school parade (Prep to Year 2) starts at 10.00am. All parents and carers are welcome.
NAPLAN Online: This year all schools in Queensland will be taking part in the annual NAPLAN tests using an online, computer-based format. This will speed up the process for test results to be returned to students, and will hopefully make the tests more engaging for our Year 3 and 5 students who undertake NAPLAN. These tests will take place early in Term 2.
Labelling School Uniforms: As the weather gets cooler, please remember to ensure that any warm clothing that students wear to school should be clearly labelled with their name. This makes returning lost property much easier. Every winter the lost property bin ends up over-flowing with un-labelled jumpers and tops that students have misplaced at school.
Senior Swimming Carnival: On Friday March 18th we are holding our Senior School Swimming Carnival. Parents and caregivers are invited to watch the swimming carnival. Students who are born in 2013 and 2012 will be participating from 9am-10:45am. Students who are born in 2010 and 2011 will be participating from 11:45am-1:30pm.
Year 3 students who are born in 2014 will not be participating in this carnival as they attended the Junior School Swimming Carnival held in Term 4.
Please remember to bring along:
- Swimmers
- Swim shirt (this may be a specialised swim shirt or an old t-shirt, No shirt No swim)
- Towel
- Thongs/sandals - To transition to pool – sneakers/socks required for rest of school day
OPTIONAL
- Goggles
- Swim cap
If you are sending your child to school in their swimming gear, please ensure students have their school clothes, including underwear, to change into after swimming.
The pool canteen will be open for students and spectators to buy snacks, however students will return to school for their lunchbreak. The school tuckshop will be open on this day also.
Student Illness: A warm thank you to all families who have kept their children home when they are unwell or exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms. These symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, runny nose, headache, fatigue. Diarrhoea, vomiting or nausea, loss of smell and loss of taste. The reason we ask students to stay home when they exhibit these symptoms is to limit the spread of COVID-19 to students and staff. COVID-19 is currently widespread throughout the wider community so your help with reducing the spread of infection is greatly appreciated.
